Roles of the CAT questionnaire in clinical practice and in the new GOLD classification of COPD

Abstract

Over more than two years of its use in clinical practice, the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Assessment Test questionnaire has become a widely used tool. The results it provides have repeatedly been found to be valid in studies.

Recently, the questionnaire has become the basic tool for determining the severity of COPD as defined by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD).
