Digital library for project and inquire-based education methods in chemistry

Abstract

Project teaching and aspects of inquiry-based education are currently considered one of the main methods leading to greater effectivity of science teaching. In our research we aimed to create a digital library for project education with inquiry-based activities.

The library is meant for teaching of chemistry as well as themes as "Creation of a project and presentation skills" and "Environmental chemistry" of Slovak State Educational Programme. It should provide the teachers of chemistry and other science subjects with didactic teaching materials that are needed for creation of interdisciplinary projects like teaching texts, experiment suggestions for a given theme, suggestions and outputs of projects and inquiry-based activities.

The inquiry-based activities are accessible since the project education has a significant inquiry-based character and the project realizes the students' inquiry activities. The contribution points out the common points and the importance of the inquiry-based method in the project education.
