Beginning and Ending : Literature at the Turn of the Century

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2012

Abstract

The authors of the book assume that the spiritual life at the end of the 19th century established principles which were developed in the 20th century. In European and American literature, a movement can be traced, which under various names (vitalism, symbolism, decadence, art nouveau, impressionism, modernism, Generation 98, etc.) constitutes the spiritual grounds for literature and culture of the following century.

The team's work focuses on the reflection both of common aspects and of differences of this movement in individual countries.
