Abstract
This lecture deals with the teaching of Dutch as a so-called small European language in the Czech Republic. It gives an overview of the possibilities of how to learn Dutch in the Czech Republic.
Based on long personal experience, it evaluates the situation and the teaching methods nowadays. It also explains what makes the teaching of Dutch different from the big world languages.
In the last part, it outlines which challenges and possilities the teaching of Dutch can expect in the near future.
