Radial Distortion and Study of Accessibility

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2011

Abstract

Cartographic visualisation of results of transport accessibility monitoring with the use of an semi- -automated method of radial distortion, developed in the GIS environment. The method is based on transformation of isochrones converted into the form of concentric circles, taking into account all topographic and thematic elements in the map.

The developed semi-automated method consists of several successive stages: original map, transformation element (layer of isochrones), decomposition and transformation of each data set in the map on the basis of temporal distance from the centre (e.g. a city) and creation of a new map.
