It is unfortunate and unfortunately traditional that that the adoption of the social reforms had not been preceeded neither by a broad political consensus, nor by a consensus with the social partners. A number of the reform changes has been challenged both by the oppositions and trade unions for being unconstitutional and the issue has been presented to the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic.
The rapid speed of the social reforms as well as their tremendous scope has radicalized a part of the population. Thus, at the end of April one of the biggest demonstration against the government from the fall of the Communist regime, has taken place.
