The paper provides an introduction to the topic of corporeality in the poetic oeuvre of Jiří Karásek ze Lvovic. We pursue Karásek's awareness of the body as a phenomenon of crisis (with regard both to reality and to the human interiority), but also his striving to form the body into a symbol or an expression of the human soul.
We take into consideration Karásek's manner of aesthetizing the body in his works. The study primarily focuses on the motif of hands, but it also considers some other segments emphasized by Karásek, such as sensuality, figurativity and movement.
We refer to the entirety of Karásek's oeuvre, including his essays and correspondence.
