EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF WATER-BASED EXERCISE INTERVENTION BY BIOELECTRICAL IMPEDANCE IN ELDERLY WOMEN: A CASE STUDY

Abstract

The purpose of this case study was to evaluate the effect of water-based exercise intervention by bioelectrical impedance in elderly women. The study group consisted of 6 healthy women at a mean age of 64.3 +- 2.3 years.

This study didn't show the expected increase in lean body mass, decrease in body fat percentage and decrease of the ratio of extracellular mass to body cell mass (ECM/BCM) after the 9 week intervention in water. At final measures, after 3 months, study showed a trend of increasing in body fat percentage and decreasing in lean body mass.
