Abstrakt
The chapter provides an overview of biology, life cycle and transmission of bird schistosomes of the genus Trichobilharzia; epidemiological aspects of human cercarial dermatitis caused by Trichobilharzia are also covered. The main point lies in description of molecular methods serving for identification of these parasites in the outer environment, intermediate snail hosts and vertebrates (diagnosis of infections caused by Trichobilharzia).
