Václav Láska (1862-1943) was "the last Czech polyhistor" of natural sciences. He became a famous mathematician, astronomer, geodesist, seismologist, meteorologist, cartographer and teacher.
Throughout his professional career he strove to integrate mathematical methods, based on exact mathematics and physics, into modern research. The main aim of the article is to map his life and teaching activities in Prague and Lwów as well as his scientific results.
