Students' problem posing based on a real life situation (an analysis of the variability of posed problems

Abstract

14-15 year old students posed an easy and a difficult problem based on two different situations. The analysis of posed problems was based on variables used by the students to increase the difficulty of a problem.

Preliminary results show that students mostly used variables linked with the mathematical model of a problem. Further analysis is supposed to describe students repertory of variables for pŕoblem posing and the relationship between the problem posing and teaching mathematics in the class.
