Abstract
The main aim of the article is to present a brief overview of some aspects of current state of physics education research, to help to ovecome some obsolete views and to show physics education research as a natural part of physics - the area which overlaps to other disciplines, but which is interesting, important and is of benefit to the physics as a whole.
