Motivation of students participating in TALNET educational program

Abstract

TALNET represents a unique attempt to provide motivated students interested in science with a learning environment in which they can develop their interests. School subjects related to science, such as physics, math or chemistry, have been considered by Czech pupils students as the least favored subjects and especially in upper elementary school and high school students often state that they do not like these subjects.

Therefore, science oriented students may find themselves in an environment which does not support their interest and optimal learning experience. The main focus of this article is to describe TALNET program from the perspective of its sucessful participants and in this context discuss their motivation, the usefulness of differentiated educational programs and gifted education in general.
