Some aspects of the linguistic relations between Czech and Slovak in the early modern period

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2004

Abstract

The article provides a detailed discussion of three works from the 17th and early 18th centuries. Two of these were published in Slovakia (one in a catholic and the other in an evangelic environment); the remaining one is of Czech origin, but had later also been published in Slovakia on a number of occasions.

The aim of the article was to indentify the differences between the idioms of the catholic environment, on the one hand, and the evangelic environment, on the other, as well as to determine to what extent these idioms can be associated with the Czech or Slovak languages.
