Abstract

The aim of this study is results analysis of elite cross country skiers in general evaluation of World Cups (WC) and individual races of WC twenty years ago. The best results in global evaluation of WC were extended by men about 29 years old and by women 29 - 31.

Men 25 - 31 years old and women 23 - 35 took a place to 20th place in WC. Average age of top performance in individual races resembles in both groups - men and women, age of top performance men of sprint (26,9) to 50km race (29,8), age of top performance women of sprint (26,8) to 30km race (29,5).

Average age of top performance of racers, who won 50km (men) and 30km (women), is quite same as age of medalists of general evaluation of WC. The racers above 29 years old frequently extended to stable form during whole season but they have a less chance to win an individual race.

On the contrary younger racers extended to unstable form during whole season and they have a more chance to win an individual race. Average age of winners of individual races in WC in comparison with winners of World Championships and Winter Olympic Games are not statistically different.

But we observed insignificant tendency that older women can time a top form than younger.
