The Characteristics of Teaching Staff at Schools

Publication at Faculty of Education |
2012

Abstract

There is a wide consensus that the work of the teacher in the classroom is the most important factor influencing the pupils. Quality of each individual teacher is however related to the context of the whole teaching staff in which individuals are more or less regulated.

This constellation is influenced by various forms of cooperation of teachers, the quality of their interactions, group dynamics, etc. Some researchers argue that the issue of teaching staff, although it is essential for the operation of the schools, it is not - compared to the more frequented subject of teachers - significantly theoretically elaborated.

In this paper we present the dominant characteristics of teaching staff which have been identified through a research among the school management students at Charles University.
