Their forefathers had built the pyramids, they help us in unearthing them. Fifty years of cooperation between the Institute and the family of el-Kerety in the Czech archaeological work in Egypt

Abstract

The paper remembers the long-standing and fruitful co-operation in archaeology between the Czech Institute of Egyptology, Charles University, Prague and the Egyptian family of el-Kereti. Already half a century ago, the tradition of that co-operation was started by chief reis Abdo el-Kereti and Professor Zbyněk Žába, the then Director of the Institute.

Since that time, many successful results have been achieved in archaeological work by subsequent generations of the el-Kereti family and by the Czech Egyptilogists, not only at Abusir but also in the oasis Bahariya.
