Abstract

Text is based on a preliminary research conducted on 294 pupils ranging in age from 3rd to 9th grade of primary school. Its main objective was to map if and how elementary school pupils use ICT in solving difficulties associated with their studies.

Data were acquired using questionnaires aimed at various ICT domains commonly used by pupils. It was used in two ways - in term of pupils' interests and in term of compulsory education.

The questionnaire used was constructed using both nominal and (mostly) qualifying questions, step by step mapping various interactions between a pupil and an ICT. The answer analysis using open coding has provided us with some possible approaches on pupils using ICT in non-formal education.

These results will be the basis for a forthcoming ethnographic analysis of pupils' culture with emphasis on an intersection of school and free time activites, and searching for ICT point in this context.
