Abstract

Aim of this paper is to examine how different input data in terms of sources and elements could provide insight into one scientific field and demonstrate it on the case of one country. Traditional data sources such as Web of Science or Scopus are not always sufficient for deep understanding.

Thus, three different types of data from the field of information and library science in the Czech Republic were used. For understanding how different data provide different input, thematic approach was applied.

On purpose classification was created, and all data were classified (every record could be in multiple categories). Visualisation of that categories were created using VOSviewer.

Every data source thus provided particular picture showing different focus - educational, research, or practical. Such a visualisation may also easily serve as a policy tool or a tool supporting management understanding and decisions, which we also wanted to demonstrate.
