Abstract

The book presents a summary of the interim results of the "Education in the area of national cultural identity" research project focusing on museums, galleries and schools (NAKI DF 11P01OVV025). This isssue is closely connected to contemporary research in gallery and museum education which relates especially to the exploration of visual culture, the function of cultural institutions, the running of art and ways of experiencing art by children and young people.

We introduce eight chapters, each bearing the name of the exhibition for which the education was created, and continue with the original texts of the educational programmes: In a Black Cloud, Inside Out, for the exhibition: Decadence Now! , Rada's Art Ceramics, for the exhibition: P. Rada! Great! Pravoslav Rada - Art Ceramics, Glamour - L'amour, for the exhibition: Glamour.

Women's Formal and Evening Wear 1950-2010 from the Collection of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, When they ask me who I am..., for the exhibition: Undeniably Me, Private Controversies, for the exhibition: Controversies. A Legal and Ethical History of Photography, Sheila Hicks: Minimes, for the exhibition: Sheila Hicks: One Hundred Minimes, Glass Invasion, for the exhibition: In Search of Glass, Orbis Pictus, for the exhibition: Mutating Media.

We present worksheets and notebooks as the basic elements of the programmes with all didactic supplements and materials including the used literature and other resources. The programme is regularly followed up by pedagogical reflection.

The core of every chapter is supplemented by authentic narratives of all who contributed to new knowledge, and often to a change of perspective of the research team.
