Abstract
The paper presents a new interpretation of the function and significance of a particular type of Neolithic anthropomorphic figurines manufactured from veined Nubian sandstone and hitherto attested only at two Neolithic cemeteries KDK.1 and KDK.21 near Kadruka in the Sudan and from the SW periphery of Jebel Uweinat in SE Libya.
