The article deals with the problem of development of attention in adolescents with hearing impairment through a special exercise program. The objective of the research was to influence the attention of adolescents with hearing impairment by means of specific sports or exercise program.
From a methodological point of view, there was applied a basic empirical approach through a simple experiment. Exercise program consisting of basics of self-defense and psychomotor was the main experimental factor.
Testing of attention (Bakalář, 1987) was used for determining the level of attention. Evaluation of the results was done by means of basic statistical methods, because the tests for normality (Shapiro-Wilcoxon and Kolmogorov-Smirnov) rejected the hypothesis of data normality.
Therefore nonparametric tests were used. To find the differences between pre-and post-testing there was used Wilcoxon nonparametric t-test for dependent monitoring.
The hypothesis, that "the level of attention in the experimental group of adolescents with hearing impairment will increase due to the intervention program", was verified. The research has confirmed the premise that basics of self-defense and psychomotor have a significant influence on the development of attention in a selected group of adolescents with hearing impairment.
