The ralationship between cognitive performance (LPS-2) and working memory (Working Memory Span Tasks)

Abstrakt
For validation of the revised Leistungsprüfsystem (LPS-2, Kreuzpointner, Lukesch & Horn, in preparation) 48 students at the Universities of Regensburg undergone besides the LPS-2, the automated working memory span tasks (aWMT, Unsworth et al., 2005). The LPS-2 measures with 11 subtests four dimensions: crystalline intelligence (Gc) and fluid (Gf) intelligence, visual perception (Gv) and cognitive speed (Gs) (according to Carroll, 2005), which combined together form a g-factor.
The aWMT measures orking memory capacity. Regression analysis shows that the LPS-R total score is predicted primarily by the processing speed (21% of specific variance clarification and 28% of total variance) and only partialy by the memory component (6% and 13%).
