The term "generation" is used frequently and variously in the theory and history of visual arts, which often causes serious misinterpretations of the term. The aim of this paper is, first, to reconstruct its meaning on the basis of primary sociological theorization, and to contextualize it within the frame of research of visual arts.
Second, it strives to explore its potential use in thinking about contemporary arts on the basis of the case study of the character of criticism in the given period called "Generation of artists in 80's".
