Surface Brown Coal Mines Reclamation in Northern Bohemia

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2012

Abstract

For many decades, very intensive exploitation is passing over in the region of South Bohemian brown coal field. The coal mining is destroying the landscape and so called "moonscape" is coming up.

Outer and inner dumping hoppers and residual collieries are rising here. That is the reason why all mining companies have the duty to make restoration projects in these times.

There are a few types of restoration - agricultural, forest, hydric and others. Recently, the most common type is forest restoration, followed by agricultural restoration.

Many coal mines that are recently being closed are going to be regulated also by hydric reclamation and so there will arise many artificial lakes in the near future.
