Abstract
In the Czech Republic, contemporary sport governance is facing a crisis. Under today's political and legislative situations, the high independence and freedom of voluntary sector can be seen as main reason of it.
Recently, municipalities have entered into this area, because they recognised the importance of sport as a part of life of their inhabitants i.e. of municipal development in general. Article deals with analysis of situation in one municipality with extended power.
This municipality can serve as an example of good local sport policy. Main features of municipal activity and problems they meet when promoting sport are described.
