Abstract

Ensuring conditions for sport by municipalities derives not only from the current legislative framework, but also from the natural authority of municipalities. Implementation of local sports policy should be among the main objectives of municipalities.

Sport positively affects health of the population, reducing their physical inactivity. Sports facilities are an important precondition for realization of sports activity.

This paper aims to examine and compare the state of sports infrastructure in municipalities with extended competences in the Czech Republic. The research draws on data from the Czech Statistical Office.

It is a pilot research of a large project. The results should map the current state of sports infrastructure in the municipalities and identify differences between municipalities in the Czech Republic.
