Abstract

A review of a recent book by Camridge ethnomusicologist Martin Stokes about Turkish history of the second half of the 20th century studied through Turkish popular music and culture and using a number of cultural anthropological concepts, namely a concept of cultural intimacy coined by Harvard cultural anthropologist Michael Herzfeld.
