Notes on the Sculpture Decoration of Modern Prague : The Allegory of Danger and Protection by Ladislav Šaloun

Abstract

The study concerns work of a leading Czech sculptor of the turn from the 19th to the 20th century. Šaloun was succesful decorator of architecture. His allegory on facade of an important bank is examined.

The piece was sophisticated in both form and content. Some conventions of sculpture decoration as well as message of builders of the bank to public are analysed here.
