This paper provides summary of spatial distribution of snow in the Czech Republic focused on the elevation of snow-line. The snow-line divides areas with/without snow cover and it is extracted from weekly distributed MODIS data.
Comparison of extracted snow-line for every geomorphologic unit proves expected differences in elevation and helps to determine snow cover trends which are used to evaluate snow cover characteristics more preciously. This all leads to improving prognosis service of Czech Hydrometeorological Institute during the spring depletion that can threat basins placed under mountainous areas.
