Abstract

On the example of paintings of Czech artist Emil Filla from the years 1906-1909 is shown the relation of the Czech environment of the group Osma (The Eight) (1907-1908) to Expressionism and Fauvism. The article focuses on the impulse of sensual paintings of Pierre Bonnard to Filla as well as on the "painterly fantasy" of German painter Max Liebermann.

He was praised in the Czech environment as well as the concept of German art critic Julius Meier-Graefe "malerische Malerei".
