Abstract

As people in industrialized countries spent almost 90 % of their time indoors, convenient microclimatic conditions belong to basic requirements which to a great extent affect or even determine well being and health of indoor dwellers. While there is a sufficient number of legal instruments and recommendations establishing acceptable limits for key indoor pollutants and factors as well as methods for their measurement and analysis, there is virtually no prevention oriented tool or guide which would help the building owner or manager to detect (without complicated measurements) potential sources or help to diagnose adverse situations of poor indoor air quality.

Also no guideline exists to help the building owner or manager to identify and record health symptoms related to unhealthy or unpleasant building conditions. The present study indicates possible solutions and gives examples of evaluation documents designs.
