Millennialism and its types: Millennium and its possible ways of interpretation

Publication at Hussite Theological Faculty |
2012

Abstract

This treatise will attempt to look at the approach to millennialism within Christianity and it's types and manifestations in history. It is divided into three basic parts and particularly takes into account the interpretation of the book of Revelation (esp.

Rev. 20). The first part of the treatise deals with the methodological presumptions of issues as seen in Jesus' perception of apocalyptic eschatology and the perception of this issue in the early Church.

The second part deals with premillennialism, amillennialism, postmillennialism and the role and position of the "great tribulation" (Matt. 24:15-28). The study also focuses on the fundamental approaches to the interpretation of the book of Revelation, which are the preterist interpretation, the historical method, symbolical or idealist method, the extreme futurist interpretation (dispensationalism) and the moderate futurist interpretration (according to G.

E. Ladd).
