Abstract
The concept of freedom became a proverbial bridge, matching the realm of faith and thought, theology and philosophy, but also Christian and non-Christian religions, and enabled the inter-confessional understanding of humans in their spiritual and religious existence. Tillich worked out his teaching about freedom namely about articulation of the concept of "New Being" interpreted as an eschatological hope for a new, better future inherent to all religions.
