The article analyses linguistic picture of břicho (abdomen, belly) in Czech. It concentrates on Czech linguistic picture of this part of body in humans and it discusses "physical" and "metaphorical" meanings of several basic nouns: břicho (belly), žaludek (stomach), žáha (heartburn), žlučník (gall-bladder), and žluč (bile).
While břicho and žlučník are used mainly in their "physical" meanings, žaludek, žáha, and žluč are often associated with various kinds of negative emotions.
