Abstract

Peace, stability and well-being are the main targets for the nations worldwide. Nevertheless, violent conflicts are constant threats.

Causes of conflicts have evolved from just the military and political issues to involve different types of crises, including environmental degradation. Broadening the understanding of violent conflicts outbreak into a multidisciplinary topic which must be carefully discussed on policy debates.

Africa gathers a set of special conditions which makes this continent a major laboratory for the improvement of theory building in the field of conflicts. The article discussed from the statistical perspective which are the effects of governance factors and natural resources abundance in order to extend the discussion on quantitative methodologies in the conflicts theories.
