Abstract
The textbook on civil law explains in Chapter V. the issue of legal rules in civil law making reference to the new Civil Code (89/2012 Coll.). The author defines in Part I the term legal rule in civil law and explains its relationship with the term legal relationship in civil law.
Part II deals with the fundamental classification of legal rules in civil law, in particular with default and mandatory legal rules and the criteria for their identification. The author further examines the scope of applicability of legal rules in the new Civil Code as well as the way they may be realised and applied.
Final Part discusses the fundamental methods of interpretation of legal rules in civil law.
