Introduction into the Work of Karel VI. Schwarzenberg

Publication |
2012

Abstract

The literary work of Karel VI. Schwarzenberg is analyzed, as it is preserved both in published articles and in manuscripts.

The work was published under several names, according to several different genres and topics. The pseudonym “Bojna” was used in right-wing political journalism.

Another pseudonym “Jindřich Středa” was used in historical and religious essays, as published in Czech Catholic journals. Proper name was used in academic texts focusing in history and heraldry.

In his own times, Schwarzenberg was considered as marginal figure in Czech society. Historically he appears as one of the “great outsiders” of Czech and Central European culture.
