Illustrative approach in chemistry education

Abstract

In the contribution, results of the orientation questionnaire research focused on the illustrative approach are discussed. The research confirmed the importance of the illustrative approach in chemistry education at secondary schools.

Various teaching methods and visual aids can be used to be more illustrative in chemistry. Teachers report that students would particularly welcome experiments to make chemistry as illustrative as possible.

In contrast, teachers tend to use the narrative approach with graphics. Following the results of the research the attention will be paid to „non-experimental” demonstrations in chemistry education.
