THE ANALOGY OF AUGER BORING IN THE HIPPOCRATIC DE VICTU

Publication |
2012

Abstract

This paper discusses the analogy of auger boring in chap. 7 and 16 in the Hippocratic De victu and suggests an interpretation saving the manuscript reading from a conjecture in ch. 7 and from a seclusion of a whole sentence in ch. 16, which unfortunately occur in the most authoritative modern editions of the treatise.
