Abstract

The collapse of the garment factory in the suburbs of Dhaka on 24 April 2013 is not only the deadliest industrial accident in South Asia since the Bhopal gas tragedy in 1984, with the death toll of more than 1000 people. The disaster also demonstrated the miserable conditions of the Third World workers who produce the major part of clothing for the contemporary Western consumer.
