Abstract
Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) is one of the most aggressive solid tumors known to affect humans with dismal prognosis. ATC is described as a rare condition accounting for 5% to 15% of thyroid malignant tumors.
ATC can arise from pre-existing well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma (WDTC). The mean age at presentation was 63–67 years with a female-to-male ratio of 1.5-3.5:1.
The majority of the patients are older than 60 years and treatment may be influenced by their age. Therapeutic modalities include surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Despite multimodality treatment survival rates remain low. We present an unusual case of young pregnant woman with anaplastic thyroid carcinoma in the young pregnant woman from Chernobyl area.
