Abstract
The history of the operative treatment of fractures is a fascinating story that has engaged many authors. To understand the development of osteosynthesis, it is important not only to become acquinted with chronological sequence of individual facts, but also to analyze the causes, imiplications and consequences of individual events, based on original sources.
