Digital ulcers in systemic connective tissue diseases

Abstract

Digital ulcers belong to the severe manifestations of autoimmune rheumatic diseases. They are most common in in sytemic scleros and systemic lupus erythematosus.

These structural changes are practically always preceded by repeated or prolonged attacks of pastic vasoneurosis Raynauds phenomenon. Obliterations of peripheral arteries in upper and sometimes lower extremities can result into necrosis and gangrene of the involved phalangi and their final loss.

Therefore early complex therapy of patients with with digital ulcers is necessary
