Abstract
Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) affect young people. They have substantial impact on quality of life.
Medical therapy of IBD consists of administration of aminosalicylates, corticosteroides, immunosuppressants and biological therapy. Many patients with IBD have to be operated on for their disease.
