Psychogenic gait disorders are functional mental disturbances causing difficulties of movement without any detection of structural lesion. Heterogenity of clinical symptoms, diagnostic difficulties and insufficient responses to therapy lead to frustration of both physicians and patients.
The article reports clinical symptoms, specifity of examination and diagnostic standards, which have to be fulfilled to make a diagnosis. Successful therapy depends on prompt diagnosis, patients' motivation and good cooperation between the neurologist, psychotherapists, psychiatris and physiotherapists
