Bird-habitat associations predict population trends in central European forest and farmland birds

Abstract

Populations of birds of coniferous forest have a tendency to increase in average, whereas birds of deciduous forest decrease and farmland birds increase only if they are associated with shrubby habitat. This can be attributed to changes in areas of respective habitats due to land use changes
