Treatment of orofacial pain by non-opioid analgesics – NSA

Abstract

Orofacial pains, especially those of dental origin, are among those for which it is desirable to influence the inflammatory component. This relates to the medium or sometimes very strong pain.

In such cases we often apply as a monotherapy or, in a combination, non-opioid analgesics such as nonsteroidal antirheumatics. According to some studies, one can state that when treating orofacial pain, NSA are more efficient than opioids.

Unlike opioids, no physical dependence emerges during a long-standing use of nonsteroidal antirheumatics.
