Abstract

Multiple sclerosis represents one of the most severe debilitating diseases of young age in neurology. Autoimmune processes damage central nervous system by forming of inflammatory lesions.

With accumulating evidence from pathogenetic studies and introduction of new treatments acting at underlying inflammatory process the prognosis of newly diagnosed patients improved substantially. The management of patients includes early diagnosis using new diagnostic criteria, and early introduction of biological treatment, which in case of inadequate effectiveness should be escalated in time.

In later stages the management of patients is based on rehabilitation and optimal combination of symptomatic treatment.
