External aortic ring and aortic root remodeling - new physiological treatment of aortic root aneurysms and aortic valve insufficiency

Abstract

Authors are presenting novel technique of treatment of aortic root aneusryms and aortic valve insufficiency. Valve preserving operations using Yacoub technique of aortic root remodeling and external aortic ring Coroneo implnation are reasonably reproducible and standardized.

It is suitable for tricupsid as well as for bicuspid aortic valve. Even though short term results are promising we have to wait for results generated by CAVIAAR (Conservative Aortic Valve Surgery for Aortic Insufficiency and Aneurysm of the Aortic Root) registry.
